Fruitask Chat

Built‑in team messaging — direct messages and workspace conversations with attachments, reactions, replies, presence, and audio/video calls.

Note: “Chat” may appear under your own brand name if your organization uses whitelabeling.

Overview

Fruitask Chat keeps conversations next to your work. Message teammates one‑on‑one or in a workspace‑wide conversation, share files, react with emoji, reply in threads, and jump into a call — without leaving Fruitask.

Key capabilities

Conversations

  • Direct messages between two people.
  • Workspace conversations for the whole team in a workspace.
  • See who’s online and their status (online, away, busy, be‑right‑back, offline, and more).

Messaging

  • Send text messages, files, and GIFs.
  • Emoji reactions on messages.
  • Reply to a specific message for context.
  • Edit your messages after sending.
  • System messages mark important events in a conversation.
  • Attachments can be uploaded as public or private files and are stored in your account storage (see Fruitask Storage).

Calls & presence

  • Start audio/video calls from a conversation.
  • Live presence shows who is active.

Moderation & privacy

  • Block users to stop receiving direct messages from them.
  • Chat access is controlled by workspace permissions, so admins can decide who may preview conversations and who may send messages.

Where to find it

Open Chat from the workspace navigation (or the chat icon). Pick a person for a direct message or open the workspace conversation, then type, attach, or call.

Requirements & access

  • You must be signed in and a member of the workspace.
  • Two permissions govern chat in a workspace:
    • Preview messages — see conversations and history.
    • Send messages — post messages and start calls.
  • A collaborator without these permissions won’t see or send workspace chat.

Limits & notes

  • File attachments follow the same size/type rules and storage limits as the rest of Fruitask Storage.
  • Blocking is per‑user and applies to direct messages.

Tips

  • Use the workspace conversation for announcements and the team‑wide back‑and‑forth; use direct messages for one‑on‑one topics.
  • Set your status so teammates know when you’re heads‑down or away.
