Fruitask Chat: Your All-in-One Messaging Solution

Stay connected with your team seamlessly using Fruitask Chat. This built-in team messaging feature allows for direct messages and workspace conversations complete with attachments, reactions, replies, presence indicators, and audio/video calls. No need to switch between apps; manage all your conversations directly within the Fruitask platform.

Overview

Fruitask Chat enables you to keep conversations right next to your work. You can message teammates individually or in a team-wide workspace conversation, share files, react with emojis, reply in threads, and initiate calls without leaving the Fruitask environment.

Key Capabilities

Conversations

  • Direct messages between two individuals.
  • Workspace conversations for the entire team within a workspace.
  • Easily see who’s online and their status (online, away, busy, be-right-back, offline, etc.).

Messaging

  • Send text messages, files, and GIFs.
  • Utilize emoji reactions on messages to express feelings quickly.
  • Reply to a specific message for better context in conversations.
  • Edit your messages after sending for clarity or correction.
  • System messages will mark important events within the conversation.
  • Attachments can be uploaded as public or private files stored securely in your account’s storage (see Fruitask Storage).

Calls & Presence

  • Start audio/video calls directly from a conversation.
  • Live presence indicator shows who is currently active and their status.

Moderation & Privacy

  • The option to block users prevents unwanted direct messages from certain individuals.
  • Workspace chat access is governed by permissions: admins can determine who may preview conversations and who can send messages.

Where to Find It

To access Chat, open the feature from the workspace navigation or click on the chat icon. Choose a person for a direct message or access the workspace conversation to start typing, attaching files, or initiating a call.

Requirements & Access

  • You must be signed in and a member of the workspace to utilize the chat feature.
  • Two key permissions govern chat in a workspace:
    • Preview messages — allows users to see conversations and their history.
    • Send messages — allows users to post messages and initiate calls.
  • Collaborators lacking these permissions will not be able to see or send messages within the workspace chat.

Limits & Notes

  • File attachments must adhere to the same size/type rules and storage limits as other components of Fruitask Storage.
  • Blocking is on a per-user basis and applies strictly to direct messages.

Tips

  • Use the workspace conversation for team announcements and discussions that involve the entire group; reserve direct messages for one-on-one communication.
  • Set your status to inform teammates when you are busy or unavailable, enhancing communication effectiveness.
